This weekend we went to the Fall Fair and really had so much fun. We are so disconnected from the world (we don’t get the newspaper, rarely watch the news) we had no idea the fall fair was here, until we called a neighbour for a playdate and she suggested we go together. Although both our families went at the same time, it ended up being so crowded and busy we rarely saw our neighbours, but we did have a really great time.

Fall Fair 12 X12 Layout

I used a bunch of stuff from my stash, mostly stuff that was already pulled out for recent projects.  I had all these cute patterned papers that I wanted to put together, so I decided to make another banner (also wanted to pick up on the banner in the background of the big photo).  I was late to jump on the banner bandwagon, but now that’m on board, I’m loving them because they give you a chance to mix mix so many papers and colours together.  The background paper is We R Memory Keepers from the Family and Keepsake line.  I flicked it with paint and outlined it before getting started.

Patterned papers used in the banner: October Afternoon (Schoolhouse), Cosmo Cricket (Odds and Ends), Studio Calico (Documentary).  I cut the banner pieces using my Stampin Up Petite Pennants punch and circle and scalloped circle punches.  I made the rectangle flags using my paper trimmer to make little rectangles (1X1.5 inches) and then used my square punch to notch out the flag at the bottom.  I strung them all together using my 1/16 punch and red and white bakers twine (both from Stampin Up).

I {LOVE} Banners now!

The cutouts are from a really cute piece of 5 and Dime paper from October Afternoon.  I am so loving OA these days… if I wasn’t on a scrappy spending freeze, I would be so buying a collection or 2!  Our kids were feeding the horses int eh stables (hay, not apples) so I HAD to cut out these shapes and incorporate them into the layout.

Fall Fair cutouts
Cutest cutouts ever- and perfect for this layout!

The cluster at the bottom has some basic grey journalling die cuts as a base, with the end part of the banner over top.  Then I made 2 cut-outs of the little girls with “o” and “s” (amazing coincident that the little girls both happened to have my girls’ initials beside them!!!) from a piece of OA Schoolhouse paper.  I stapled and glued them down in the middle, and used dimensionals to pop the edges of those cutouts off the page.  Letters are Thickers (Honey and Lax) and the flowers are Sassafras (felt) and Basic Grey (Fabric).  I also punched some layered flower and outlined the edges using my Boho Blossoms Stampin Up punch.

October Afternoon knew my girls’ initials!  How nice of them to make this paper for me!

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
