Here’s may take on this week’s sketch over at Nuts About Sketches:

Untitled

Here is the sketch, which I rotated 90 degrees and moved the title and journalling around a bit:

219 - 1 Due June 24
I just love working with sketches, and Shawn’s sketches are always so inspiring.

I finally broke into my SoCal kit from Studio Calico (I also have the Newport add-on mixed in with my kit).  I love that the colours in the kit were similar to the colours in the graduation photo, but lighter and more muted.  I think that allows the photo to really stand out (the photographer for her preschool, btw, was Scott – yay Scott!)

Untitled
That sunburst above was really fun to create.  I used the long flower petal stamp from the Newport add on (check out my process video below to see how I made it).  The inks are Stampin’ Up!, mostly from last year’s In Colours.  I misted the Prima canvas butterfly with Glimmer Mist, which conveniently doesn’t glimmer on canvas (giving me the chance to use it up and save my Mister Huey’s for other projects).

Untitled
I layered a few strips along the right edge of the photo, giving me a chance to use my new star border punch.  I wanted to include stars in the layout because her graduation song is about being a little star.

Untitled
I used the striped paper as a journalling box, adding a felt cloud from KatScrappiness, and an Amy Tangerine stamp.

Process vid (should be working soon, it’s still processing on YT):

Well, I’m off to attend a picnic at my older daughter’s school.  Have a great week!

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
