Comfort and joy tassimo card

For awhile now, I’ve been trying to figure out a use for that plastic-y metallic packaging that the Tassimo coffee comes in. This weekend I finally got around to brining some of it down to my craft room, and boy, did I have some fun! I tried dry embossing, inking, punching, and die-cutting it, and came up with a few great projects as a result of my experimentation.

First, I dry embossed a piece of it with snowflakes and used it as a mat/background for this Christmas card:

I did swipe the embossed surface with white Staz-On, but it didn’t make that big of an impact, as the silver of the packaging is very whitish already. I made the hills with a 3 inch circle punch (Pool party cardstock by Stampin’ Up!), then I covered them in Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The trees were made with the Pennant Parade stamp set, and the Petite pennants builder punch. I made them from Wild Wasabi cardstock with Wild Wasabi ink. Sentiment is from the Word Play set, and the scallop circle and circle were punched. All products except Tassimo packaging are Stampin’ Up!

Then I headed on over to the Sketchy Thursdays website to get some inspiration to make a first day of school layout.  This is what I came up with:

Rainy First Day

It’s a pretty simple layout. I used the Dots and Spots embossing folder by Cuttlebug to emboss the Tassimo packaging after cutting it into a circle with my circle cutter.

Those clouds are from the Out on a Limb Halloween stamp set (Stampin’ Up!). I stamped them onto the same cardstock as my background (American Crafts from their Neutrals pack), then painted them with medium body paint (Titanium white). Each of my daughters (4 and 6 years old) painted one of them them, and I painted the others. The raindrops are the flames from the candles on the Build a Cupcake punch (Stampin’ Up!). Boy, was attaching them a tedious task!

I cut strips using the Tasteful Trim die (Stampin’ Up!) and attached them below the photos.  All in all it was a fun day of crafting.  I used up the entire package from my Skinny Lattes, so I guess if I want to do more crafting with this stuff, I better get drinking! (coffee, that is, although I’m sure i could find a use for wine labels, too!)

I didn’t take any pics of the Tassimo packaging before cutting and embossing the heck out of it, but here is a video it:

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
