Sherie from Scrapbook Supplies Online sent me the Serendipity collection from Basic Grey to play with this month, and have I ever been having fun with it!  This collection seems to have been a limited release line and I hadn’t seen it in person before, so I was amazed at how it combines both rich and subtle colours and patterns.  I had the paper pad, the the small alphabet stickers, the cardstock stickers, and the “Pins and Tags” embellishment pack to work with, and the only thing I used from my own stash were a few punches, my Cameo, and my markers (can’t live without my markers, after all!).  Here’s what I came up with:

Loving all these patterns!

This layout really demonstrates how much fun you can have with only a few supplies, and also how central paper really is to this craft!  Although sometimes we get caught up in the baubles and knick-knacks we can attach to our layouts, it’s nice to just sit and have fun with paper!

I created that scalloped circle title embellishment using my cameo to cut the shape, and then by layering lots of Basic Grey stickers from the collection.  Topped it off with a punched heart- so simple and fun!

Outlining is my go-to technique for bringing lots of different patterns together for a cohesive look.

I added the machine sewing (on the title), the staple (also by the title), and the stick pins (shown here) as some non-paper elements to add a bit of interest to this layout.

Did I mention that this is a FUN collection to work with?  I can’t wait to get working on another Serendipity layout!

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
