I’ve been creating more layouts than blog posts lately, so if you don’t subscribe to my YouTube channel, you might want to head over and see what you’ve missed!

As March comes to a close, and I wait for my April kit to arrive, I managed to get 2 more layouts done this morning, thanks to a rain storm that covered Halifax in ice.  Both were quick one-hour layouts (I was up and down the stairs tending to the kids, and those layouts always tend to be a bit less elaborate).

My first layout used this pic of my daughter and her friend making Japanese candy at our kitchen peninsula.  I love that it shows the two of them working together on a project and I love that it shows one of Livie’s many sets of glasses, which she does not need (they are fashion glasses).

Using the It’s My Life kit

For this layout I used the It’s My Life kit from Scraptastic.  I love that Bokeh paper (from the My Mind’s Eye Then and Now collection) and I also love the colour of the background card stock, so I was happy to use both on this layout.

Lots of embellies in this kit!

The It’s My Life kit came with so many cute little die cut pieces that I feel like they’ll last forever!

Letter Stickers from my stash

There are a lot of letter stickers in the kits, but they just weren’t the right shade of blue, so I reached to my stash for the title letters.  These grey and cream October Afternoon Mini Market stickers are among my favourite tile letter stickers.

Here is the process of how this one came together:

My second layout this morning also used the It’s My Life kit, and featured my very favourite paper from the kit, the multicoloured chevron from Bazzill Basics:

I wanted that paper to be the focal point of this layout so I cut out those chevrons and sewed the down the middle, lifting the edges for extra dimension.

Loving those chevrons almost as much as the pizza this layout is about!

I am really pleased with how the title came out on this layout.  I especially love how the old fashioned feeling from the red cursive letters fit with the words “Pictou County” The arrow was a perfect fit for the space in front of the word “pizza”.  Having lots of embellies to choose from in a kit increases the chances that you’ll find the perfect item for the space you’re working with!

Letter stickers from the kit make up the title

Once I finished the title and the area around the photos, I didn’t have a place for the journalling so I made a pocket behind the layout that allows a journalling card to slip behind the layout, and stick out above the page.  I have a few other layouts like this in my albums and I like how it makes it so easy to pull out the journalling without having to reach into the page protector or remove the layout.

Hidden Journaling

Here is the video that shows how this one came together:

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
