I had a busy weekend, but by getting up early I managed to throw together this layout (in a bit more than an hour, which is a record for me):
Untitled

I used the Studio Calico May Kit, 35mm, and the Lomography add-on.  The background paper is called Hive and is by Studio Calico.  I knew I had to use it as a background as soon as I saw it.  Because the background is so busy, I used only a few bold embellishments (and 3 subtle), which is why I could put it together so quickly.

The triangles came as a white on white banner, from the Heidi Swapp Color Magic line.  I ran a red chalk ink pad (Ladybug by Prima) over them and cut them apart to make triangle-y arrows.  The letter box letters were also from the Heidi Swapp Color Magic line, so I treated them to the same chalk-ink swipe, making them match perfectly.  The black striped washi tape (from my stash) anchors the layout, and the arrows draw attention into the hot chocolate mug.

I like to add subtle details to my layouts… elements that might not stand out on first glance, but that add a little something to draw you into the layout.  On this layout, I added the 3 hexagon die cuts, which I doodled and popped up on dimensional adhesive (or they’d be so subtle they’d be lost!).  The colours are so similar to the background paper, and I placed them inside existing hexagons so they’d not distract from the overall hex pattern.

Hexagons, triangles, and diagonal stripes, oh my!

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
