IS: Row 1&2

So I decided to skip Class 2 because I don’t have the right background stamps to get the best looks out of the kissing technique.  I’ll come back to it someday when I have the right stamps (lifetime access to the videos, so no worries there).

Class 3 focussed on completing the second row of hearts.  Here are some shots of my canvas thus far:

I am using a 2.5 inch punch for my hearts, which is bigger than the hearts they are using in the class, so my grid won’t fit on a 12X12 canvas, so I am using a bigger (rectangular) canvas.  I haven’t attached any of the hearts yet- I’ll do that at the end.

This row is all dry embossing techniques.  It was so much fun to emboss acetate (I used a piece of packaging), metal (I used tin foil folded into 4 layers), canvas, and even Prima flowers!  I had tried the faux-letterpress technique before (the last heart in row 2) but it had never turned out for me before today.  Mine is a little messier than a true letterpress would be, but I still like the look.

Here are the cards I made:

IS class 3 card 1

Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder (Stampin Up) with photo paper, then swiped with distress inks (fired brick, faded jeans, peeled paint).  Punched butterflies using 2 Martha Stewart punches.  Sentiment is a Basic Grey rub on.

Thsi is my new favourite card!  I LOVE how it turned out!  I took a Very Vanilla base and stamped a background using a few floral acrylic stamps in Crumb Cake ink.  Blu woodgrain paper is from the DCWV Green stack, embossed with perfect polka dots embossing folder and sanded.  Coloured in random dots with markers.  Made the butterfly embellishment using layers of Cardstock and book paper, and distress ink, topped with a tiny button and linen thread.  I believe the sentiment is a Hero Arts photo polymer stamp.  Love this.  Sentiment ought to say “Some cards are worth holding in your craftroom forever”  This is one of them.

I love this card too!  This embossing folder (by Cuttlebug) in this colour (Pool Party by Stampin Up) reminds me of Van Gogh’s Starry night.  This one uses the faux letter press technique.  I couldn’t get it any neater than this… I might need to practice and use different inks.  I had only used pigment inks before and they made a mess!  I didn’t think dye inks would stay wet long enough to work, but this Pool Party and Crumb Cake ink, worked great!  Coverage is a little spotty and it smeared a bit, but I still like the look.  I went a little overboard dying the flowers (from the trim section of the fabric store) with vintage photo (was going for a more subtle look).  But I really like how this turned out.  Crumb Cake is my fave Stampin Up colour, so I made the base in this colour too, to pick up on the ink.  Sentiment is from the Word Play set (Stampin Up).

This workshop is so much fun!  I just wish I could keep up!  These classes are so full of techniques and ideas, I think I’d have to craft all day every day to keep up!
Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
