This is what I came up with using the NAS Design Team search sketch:
I used the Studio Calico July kit (Elmwood Park with Monkey Bars add on). I thought the chevron kraft paper was a perfect sand colour (for around here where we have brown sand beaches) and I also got a chance to pull in some Echo Park and American Crafts paper from my stash (EP Sunshine mini theme, and AC Shoreline collection). I challenged myself to combine the kit with these papers because a/ I really wanted to use the new EP and AC papers I got this week; and b/I really needed to get a few more layouts from Elmwood Park before my Summer of ’69 kit arrives (probably later this week).
The denim letters came from the kit but all the others came from my stash |
I combined October Afternoon little flyers with hand-cut fish from the EP Sunshine mini theme. |
I punched the circles with marry punches (3 and 2.5 inches) and lettered around them |
I completed this layout for the Design Team call, but I’ve decided not to apply for a second term. It was a big decision because I have loved working with Shawn’s sketches and a part of me really wants to continue. But another part of me knows that I am far busier in the falls than in the springs and scrapping is my hobby, so if I started to feel pressured to complete a certain number of layouts per month at that time of year, it might lose its appeal for me. So I’ve decided not to submit this layout for the DT call. But I did have a lot of fun completing it… although it is a little bittersweet for me, knowing I’ll only have a few more weeks on the NAS DT.
