I was excited to break into my Scraptastic Summer Nights kit this morning, and although there was a Tropical Storm blowing outside, I was hopeful I could get a layout in before the power went out.  It ended up going out fairly early in the process, but I set up on my dining room table and completed the layout:

Loving the bright colours in this kit!

This layout is a little “airier” than usual for me, but I think it works with the bright colour scheme.  I left lots of white space around the title “#Sugah!” and also left some trapped white space between the heart embellishments.  I usually try to fill in spaces like that with layers, but this time I felt them.

The sun wood veneer is one of my all-time favourites from the kits!  I misted it with Taxi Mister Huey’s and added an enamel dot.

This sun was my favourite item in the kit, so I was happy to get it on my first page!

The journalling is framed in by a die cut banner piece from the kit, and I used the strip of weekdays to denote the date of the photo:

Layering premade die cuts adds interest and dimension to an otherwise flat embellishment.

Here is the process video which shows how the layout came together from beginning to end:

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
