I’ve been meaning to make one of these “slanty” layouts using a less-than-90-degree line to divdd two papers, and today I got my chance.  I love the green and blue card stock in the Scraptastic Summer Nights kit, and I really wanted to use them together on a layout:

I stitched lines across the page to further emphasize the “slantiness” of the layout and used the lines to anchor a variety of random die cuts, stickers, and brads from the Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine collection. I love how bright and cheerful they look.

I used the letter stickers from the kit (also from the Good Day Sunshine collection) to spell out Canada Day beside my photo, and added tile number stickers from a previous kit.

The sun die cut also came in the kit, and here I misted it with both Taxi and Custard Mister Hueys.

I love how the embellishments appear to be marching across the page.  Although I love layering, every once in awhile I like to create one of these pages where everything is laid out without touching so you can really appreciate the colours and shapes of everything.

And here is my process video which share how this layout came together from start to finish:

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!

Love the open and airy feeling of this layout. What a clever use of bits of ephemera! I have tons of it stuck in baggies with nowhere to go. Now I’ve got a plan 🙂 I can’t wait to watch the video.
