Oh the places

Today I played some more with the So Cal kit and Newport add on from Studio Calico.  I used this Pagemaps sketch from The July layout challenge over at Scrapbook Supplies Online as my starting off point:

Scrapbook Supplies Online July Layout Challenge sketch

I really like this sketch but I adapted it to meet my needs based on the supplies I had on hand, and the feeling I wanted to create for this layout.  I hadn’t used a topnote shape in scrapbooking for a long while and I didn’t have any large shaped paper on hand.  I considered cutting one with my Cameo, but decided to down-play the topnote shape by making it smaller, and used one of my Grand nestabilities for the shape.  The way I layered it amoungst the other elements, it becomes just another layer, rather than the focal point of the layout, as in the sketch.

“Anything goes” was my colour scheme!

This photo was taken the night of Sophie’s graduation from preschool.  I chose the title because one of the teachers read the book that night, and I’ve wanted to use that Dr. Seuss title for awhile now.  It applies to both graduation and scootering!  A variety of letter stickers- White: Amy Tangerine Journal; Yellow: Niki Riki; Pink: Roller Rink ; Navy: Jillibean Soup; light blue: LilyBee Designs.

Kat Scrappiness felt clouds combine with Sassafras sticker clouds

I stamped the felt clouds (a gift from Kat of Kat Scrappiness – LOVE her embellies!!) with Island Indigo, Primrose Petals, and Pumpkin Spice ink from Stampin’ Up! in geometric patterns.  It really ties them in with the cloud stickers from Sassafras.

Heidi Swapp fringe border made of map paper really ties in with the theme of the layout and adds interest

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
