June Sketch Challenge at SSO: play along to win! |
Be sure to check out the site and play along with this sketch for a chance to win a voucher to the store. Although I love all the detail, today I was in a minimalist mood, so I decided to simplify this sketch quite a bit. Don’t be afraid to take what you want from a sketch and leave the rest. I really loved the patterned paper to the left and the ribbon detail down the edge of the paper, as well as the placement of the photos and title. All the others details felt like too much for the simple photos I wanted to scrap today, so I left them out. Here’s the result:
Those Dear Lizzy foam Thickers picked up the colour in Liv’s top purple-fectly! |
That tiny floral print (from the Dear Lizzy Enchanted line by American Crafts) has the most beautiful shades of pale blue and lime green, than reminded me instantly of the 2011 In Colors from Stampin’ Up. I knew I wanted to try my hand at another variegated coloured banner like the one here, but I wanted to use inks this time instead of mists…
Heidi Swapp Color Magic banner inked with Stampin’ Up 2011 in colors |
So I grabbed my Stampin Up inks in Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, and Wisteria Wonder and applied them to the banner with a sponge. A little blending and voila- banner perfection! I love how those colours pick up on the shades in the Dear Lizzy paper. I also got to play with my Martha Stewart fringe scissors (from my Scrapbook.com prize pack) and my favourite border punch, the double embossed dotted lace scallop border, by EK Success.
