On Saturday I had my very first Stampin’ Up! workshop, and it was a total blast! We all had so much fun stamping and making cards, we didn’t even realise how late it was, and people ended up leaving well after midnight! I had to scrap the photos from the evening, but this time, I did something a little different. Because I had lots of photos, I did a double layout, but I used 2 8-1/2 by 11 papers in landscape orientation. Firstly, I rarely ever do double layouts anymore. Secondly, I’ve never scrapped on 8-1/2 by 11… and the sideways format was waaay different than anything this 12X12 gal has EVER done! Of course, I had to use Stampin’ Up products (I have no SU letters so letters are Thickers). Here is the first page:

And then this is what it looks like all together:
First Workshop Double Layout (22 X 8-1/2) |
I used the Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper, which I got free from the Buy 3 Get One Free promo in August. I love that background paper but had no idea how I was going to use it, until I decided to put one upside down to look like the leaves are dangling down from above on the right corner. I really like how the photo collage fills the space between the 2 clusters of leaves in the DSPs. The layout was pretty easy… I just made some plain and scalloped border strips from the Designer Series Paper and cut a bunch of butterflies using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit.
I just love those tiny embossed butterflies! |
I used Rich Razzleberry to ink the previously white Thickers. I love how the ink took differently in different spots to give it a slightly mottled effect. The journalling spot behind the word “first” was made using the Decorative Label punch. I also inked the embossed parts of the butterflies and added pearls.
