I’m back with the third and final instalment of Polishing Off a Kit, featuring 3 layouts I created from the left over bits from my Scraptastic July kits.

If you haven’t heard already, Scraptastic Kit Club is celebrating their 3rd anniversary this weekend!

This post will share my third and final extra layout using scraps from the July kits:

So I had this picture, which posed a few problems.  Firstly, the ugly part of our pool with the label showing, really dominated the photo.  Secondly, there was a big gap of space between the subjects in the photo.  Thirdly, my younger daughter wasn’t even looking at the camera!  But I wanted to scrap this pic anyhow because I love the look on my oldest daughter’s face.  She thinks she’s photo bombing the picture, but I was actually trying to compose it so it was a selfie with my kids playing in the background.  She’s all about photobombing these days, so this pic is a “the joke is on you” kind of photo.

I used the large cut-out camera as an embellishment to hide the dominant lettering on the pool

I love this bikini sticker and think it looks cute layered under the die cut words

How does a non-surfer use surfboard stickers?  As generic pointed oval shapes!

Although a lot of the pic is covered up, the important parts are still showing and I like that this one will make it into my scrapbook after all.  I like to use the last bits of a scrapbooking kit on “lower-stakes” photos, so that if it turns out looking like a Franken-layout (all pieced together with what I have left), I don’t feel like I need to rescrap it.  But the good thing about these kits is the products work well together right down to the last bits.

Here is the start to finish process video for this layout:

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the anniversary crop yet (or even if you have), head on over to the Scraptastic website and check out the challenges and games going on in the Forum.

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
