Trends. Love ’em, or hate ’em, they dominate the scrapbooking world today. But one of the good things about trends is that because so many manufacturers provide us with similar colour tones, shapes, and themes, it is easier for us to combine scrapbooking goodies from a variety of different sources and still make it all “work.”
The layout I’m sharing with you today is one that I created with not one, not two, but three different kit club kits, plus several items from my stash. You may ask “What is the point of scrapbooking from a kit when you’re combining so many kits together?” And that would be a good question. One to which I don’t have an answer. 🙂 All I know is I’ve got a lot of product on my desk, and it’s all gotta be moved along to make way for June’s kits!
As a side note, impulsively buying 2 extra kits out of disappointment with the first kit is not necessarily the way to go if you’re scrapping on a budget, or with time constraints. Lessons learned. I’m a one-kit-club-at-a-time kinda gal.
Ok, so on with the layout:
This photo was taken when Sophie and I went to the museum with my Mom and Stepdad. It was raining hard that day and their red and navy raincoats looked so great against the dreary grey background of the halifax waterfront. I wanted to create a layout that reflected the photo with pops of red and blue on a neutral grey background.

I love that those October Afternoon circle labels layer perfectly with die-cut pincked circles from my cameo.
That giant butterfly from the Maggie Holmes collection definitely dominates the layout. I may not have had a good reason to put a humungous butterfly on this layout. But I also didn’t have a good reason not to. And, oh, stapled Heidi Swapp letters, how I LOVE you!!!
