I’ve been playing with the Scraptastic May kit (Destination Unknown and the add-on for it), and having so much fun!  If you’re interested in seeing what all came in the kit, check out my YouTube May Scraptastic Kit Share video.  I have 2 layouts to share with you tonight, and both are from earlier in the month, so if you follow me on YouTube, these will look familiar!

The first layout I created from the kit was about my sister, who lives in Moncton.  We went up to visit her and her family and we had such a wonderful time, I just had to scrap it.  Plus she’s so darn photogenic!

I used the die-cut piece that came in the kit as the title and played with other pieces in the kit that had the word “here” to tie in the idea that she is “here” as in here in Moncton.  I would normally call Moncton “there” but since I was there too, “you are here” fit, and I wanted to play with that idea.

I love having so much choice of what to use on the first layout you create with a kit.  All my very favourite embellishments and papers show up on the page.  There’s not point in holding back the good stuff for some future special layout- I like to give each layout its own spotlight.

The canvas frame is from my stash (it came in this month’s Citrus Twist kit) and it is one of the few items on this layout that didn’t come from the kit.  I loved the Chic Tags and couldn’t resist covering this teal label in tiny words stamped in different colours of ink.  I think it kind of mirrors the typing on the Elle’s Studio label (the one that says “pure joy joy joy”).  Adding the coordinating enamel dots to the squares on the canvas frame was a last minute idea, but I love how it adds that little bit of detail.  I knew there was a reason I was collecting so many different coloured enamel dots!

The stars are stamps from the After The Storm kit.  Although I didn’t get the kit, the stamp set really spoke to me, so I splurged and got yet another stamp set!  I like how they look amoungst the splatter.

I love the soft dimension that vellum adds to layers and although the kit comes with my most favourite velum in the world (the Sundrifter vellum from Studio Calico) it wasn’t going to work with this layout. So I went to my vellum scraps and picked out this hexagon vellum (also from Studio Calico) which is perfect with these colours.  The Mister Huey’s splatter in silver pics up on the grey nicely.

This is one of my favourite layouts in awhile, so one more look:

And here is the start-to-finish process video of this layout:

Here is the second layout I created with the Scraptastic Destination Unknown kit (and the add on).  This one is about how dirty, exhausted, and happy my daughters and their friend were when we picked them up from Brownie/Sparks camp.  It was my youngest’s first 2 day sleepover camp, and it rained over 35mm both days and nights!

A lot of my scrapbook titles come from Facebook posts that I use as captions on my photos.  This title was quite long, so I had to figure out how to fit it all in.  I decided to put the 3 adjectives into speech bubbles at the top and have the title be in a column alongside the photo.

Remember Stickles?  They were perfect for the die-cut piece and chipboard feathers

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a good scrappy week!

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
