When I heard Kristine Davidson from Creative Scrappers, was putting out a third volume of her amazing sketches, I was so excited!  I’m a big fan of her work and her sketches, and I chose Volume 2 of her book as one of my Fab Friday Finds back in April because I was so smitten with her sketches.  Well, I recently got to work with one of her sketches for this book, and my layout will appear in Creating with Sketches Volume 3!!  Here is the layout:

Created with a sketch from Creating With Sketches Volume 3

I created this layout with the Scraptastic kit from August (called Celebration) along with a few things from my stash.  I love how the colours of the kit compliment the reds, blues, and green in the photos.  The sketch provided a great opportunity for me to play with the papers without worrying too much abut the overall design of the layout.

I also decided to pull out some of what I consider classic scrapbooking supplies: brads and stickles!  I love how the turquoise stickles on the rosette ties in with the blue glitter Thickers.

I followed the sketch pretty closely for this layout, but one thing I love about using sketches is that you can use them as a jumping off point, or follow them closely, or anything in between!  If you’d like your own copy of Creative Scrappers: Creating with Sketches V3 (in hard copy or e-book format), be sure to follow the link, and enter the code V3MERCYTIARA to get 10% off your purchase if you order by November 1, 2014!

Now, here is the process video which shows the layout come together from start to finish:

If you’d like a peek at what the hard copy of the book looks like, check out this video from April (which I created before I did any work with Kristine- I am in no way affiliated with my Fab Find Friday picks when I choose them)

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!

I haven’t really used any sketches yet. I just started scrapbooking and I am looking for new ideas. I love all the paper/embellishments, but sometimes I get overwhelmed by the possibilities.
