I’m back with another Sketchy Thursdays inspired layout.  I took my time with this one and made almost all the embellishments myself, including some stinkin’ cute Nestability trees!

These were so much fun to make that I ended up making 5 different trees in 2 different styles (one didn’t make it to the layout but will be used on a card).  I used the Basic Grey Origins collection for the trees and scraps for the trunks.

I also made the frame with the little dear using my Cindy Loo Cricut cartridge.

The sketch this week was really cool because it featured the 2X2 grid of photos:

Sketchy Thursdays 6.16

I wanted to use the grid, but only had 3 photos so I decided to make a title frame to take up one of the spots on the grid.  Here is what I came up with:

The background paper is Bashful Blue from Stampin’ Up! and the leaf paper is from the American Crafts I Do collection.  I misted the background with Stream Adirondack colour wash, and Patina and Carribean Glimmer Mist.  I’m not in love with the placement of the misting, but I do like the rich colour from the colour wash.  The lacey ribbon was pulled from a Scarlet Lime kit.  I am addicted to my 1/2 size sewing machine, so I had to do some machine stitching.  I put some rub ons from Kaiser Kraft and from Jenni Bowlin to accent the ribbon and along the bottom of the layout.  Once again, the bottom layers were added after the photos… I seem to be doing that a lot lately!

I cut the 2 layers of the frame from the Cindy Loo Cricut cartridge.  I doodled the edges of the deer and coloured her dots and eyes with markers.  Then I backed the frame with some book paper.  I painted the paper with a few coats of paint using my Adirondack paint daubers (this paint is not very opaque- I wanted the text to show through, but to be subtle).  Then I used Thickers and Jenni Bowlin tiny letters for the title.  I used my purple marvy circle punch to make the hills.

Note, this layout has also been published in Canadian Scrapbooker Summer 2012

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
