Happy New Year everyone!  I’ve been so busy enjoying the holidays, I haven’t scrapped in ages!  Today I got some time in my scraproom and got to do my first Christmas scrapping of the year.  I feel almost all Christmased out, but I had to get this layout done before packing away my holiday supplies for another year (I did a mini album earlier as well, which I’ll share in a later post).  Because I hadn’t done a layout in awhile (over a month- sacrilege!) I headed on over to Sketchy Thursdays to get my creative juices flowing.  Here is this week’s sketch:

And here’s what I came up with:

Santa Baby 12x12
Santa Baby 12×12 layout

I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock (Stampin’ Up!) and 2 patterns from the Holly Berry Designer Series Paper (Stampin’ Up!).  I wanted to use 2 photos, so I decided to move the whole layout down and to the corner a bit to make room for a smaller cluster towards the upper right.  I lined all elements with black marker to bring them together.  After the paper for the main cluster was adhered I splattered paint in white and “shopping bag brown” diagonally across the page.

I picked another paper  (from My Minds Eye Lost and Found series) to use for accents.  I picked a lined paper in cream and red, and cut a circle and 2 bracket shapes (one from labels 4 nest abilities, and one from the Decorative Labels punch from Stampin’ Up!).  The snowman and large snowflake were cut from my Winter Woodlands Cricut cartridge (last year- for cards I never got around to making!).  Snowman is accented with fired brick Distress Stickles, and the snowflake is coated in Dazzling Diamonds (Stampin’ Up!).  The number 10 is a piece from a folding ruler.  I believe the small letter stickers are Kaiserkraft.  Title letters are Thickers.

Then I scattered the whole thing with snowflakes following the diagonal paint splats: cut from a cuttlebug die and rub-ons from Imaginesce.

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
