This month’s sketch challenge over at Scrapbook Supplies Online features this fun sketch to get your creative juices flowing:

April Layout Challenge for Scrapbook Supplies Online
Sherie is offering a $25 gift voucher to the store to a random participant in the challenge, so be sure to head over and post your entry in the gallery!  I had a lot of fun with this sketch, which definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone!  Here’s what I came up with, using supplies from the Studio Calico City of Lights kit and Sorbonne add on:

snuggle kitties

I originally planned on this being a monochromatic green layout, but yellow always seems to find its way onto my layouts these days.  The layout was inspired by Sandra Boynton’s book, Snuggle Puppy, the lyrics of which I could not get out of my head as I snapped these Instax photos of my snoozing fur-babies.  I put a revised version of the lyrics on the journalling card (changing puppy to kitties, of course!).

That gorgeous feline shape was cut with my amazing Cameo (is it wrong to love a machine THIS MUCH???).  I knotted the twine every here and there for interest before attaching it in a crossed-over/spread out pattern (is there are word for that… maybe “splayed”??) that I thought mirrored the white designs in the background paper.  Those grey letters are Basic Grey mini monogram letters, I believe exclusive to the kit, and although they are not texturised, they had such a look of wool/felt, I could’t resist using them for the snuggle part of the title.

There was also some stamping, outlining, regretted sewing, and inking of velum involved, as seen in the process vid.  If you have any questions about supplies, feel free to message me.

Mercy Tiara

Mercy Tiara

You may be wondering who is Mercy Tiara, and why the name? MercyTiara is an anagram of my first and middle names, Tracy Marie. I discovered this name in the 90's in grad school when we were all coming up with alter egos for one another in a lab one day. I've used it ever since, but you can call me Tracy or MercyTiara, or anything you want... just don't call me late for supper!
