On Thursday night Livie went to the Discovery Centre with her Sparks unit, and the rest of us found ourselves in the city around supper time while craving Greek food, so we headed on over to Athens to grab some Souvlaki, calamari, and Saganaki (yum!). Scott had his camera with him and caught a few cute shots of Sophie smelling the pink rose that was at our table. When he posted it on FB, my MIL commented on stopping to smell the roses… and a layout idea was born!
I’m entering this one in the Sketchy Thursdays June GDT Challenge:
Stop and Smell the Roses (Sketchy Thursdays) |
This layout is so outside my comfort zone, it isn’t even funny! The challenge included a sketch as well as an inspiration photo (a tower of pretty tea cups). I don’t do many floral designs, so this really was a challenge! I used an Amy Butler stack called Tea Box (by K and Company); Basic Grey and Pink Paislee letter stickers; trim from my stash; and a glitzy boom from my stash. I also used a reverse stencilling technique to get the inked border on the Nestabilities die cut piece (from Labels 4). It looks a little plain, but I wanted to patterned paper to speak for itself.
