I’ve been having so much fun documenting my December using the Scraptastic Stocking Stuffer kit (and working on content for the class) that I almost forgot all about my Home add-on! Home was one of the November kits from Scraptastic and I am in love with all the bits from the Basic Grey Persimmon collection that came in that kit! I had this very fall photo of my Pullip doll in our backyard, and every time I see it, I am reminded of the gorgeous colours that display in our backyard every September-November. I only had an hour to scrap, and I hate leaving a layout unfinished, so I challenged myself to be snappy with this one!

I knew right away that I wanted to make a little bouquet of leaves from the Basic Grey embellishment pack that came in the kit, so I set about crumpling and separating the leave and arranging them in an interesting way. When I’m arranging things like this (whether it’s flowers, leaves, or feathers) I always struggle with what to do at the base of the arrangement, so in this case I decided early on in the process to layer a couple of the larger wood veneer hearts at the base to cover the stems. With my main challenge taken care of, it was easier to move faster with the other design choices.

I could’t get a title until the very end with this one. Titles are always the hardest part for me. I thought about making some sort of “fall” and “doll” type rhyme-y title, but… just no. So, not knowing what the title would be, I misted the letters for the word “Fall” and placed them on the layout (check out the video to see how I layered 2 colours when I couldn’t find a colour that coordinated with my layout). Then I added “we love” with the small letter stickers from the Colorblind kit for an only slightly less boring title.

The journalling (shown in the video) is about how relaxing our backyard is and I love how this photo shows the colours without showing our actual yard. The yard itself is actually not all that spectacular, and it’s really hard to photograph because it is wide and the forest comes up very close to our house (which is what I love, but makes for not great pics). I rarely like pics of our yard but this one captures the mood quite nicely, so I’m glad I got to include it in my scrapbook. I’ll scrap about the doll itself another time, I’m sure.
